Producing Biocrude from Woody Biomass

Ensyn produces biocrude from forest and agricultural residues using its proprietary thermal technology. Ensyn's biocrude has been in commercial production for over 30 years for the generation of food ingredients, natural chemicals and heating fuels. Ensyn is now building out its production capacity for a broader commercialization of heating fuels and for other energy products.

Ensyn's biocrude is a Fast Pyrolysis Bio-Oil, or FPBO. For heating applications, Ensyn markets its renewable fuel in the U.S. as RFO®, and in Canada as Low Carbon Fuel Oil (LCFO).

Expansion of biocrude production capacity is underway, led by three key projects:

Maine, USA, being developed in Alliance with Castlerock Green Energy and Khasma Capital (formerly Nexus Development Capital).
Nova Scotia, Canada, being developed by Vyterra Renewables Inc., Ensyn's wholly-owned subsidiary responsible for development of production in Canada.
Aracruz, Brazil, being developed in alliance with Suzano SA, Brazil's leading wood products company.

Strategic Relationships

Ensyn works closely with industry leaders in each step of the value chain. These include companies related to fiber supply, technology and equipment supply, offtake markets, project development and finance. Ensyn’s has strategic relationships with Honeywell UOP, Suzano, Linde, LanzaTech, Castlerock Green Energy, Khasma Capital LLC and Kerry Group PLC.
