ARACRUZ PROJECT
The Aracruz Project is a 22 million gallon/year Ensyn biocrude production facility being developed by Ensyn and Suzano in a 50/50 partnership. The project is co-located at Suzano’s 2.3 million tonne/year pulp facility at Aracruz, Espirito Santo, north of Rio de Janeiro.
Ensyn and Fibria Celulose SA have had a longstanding alliance for the production of cellulosic fuels and fuel feedstocks in Brazil. The Aracruz project is the first facility to be developed under this alliance. In Januray 2019 Fibria and Suzano Pulp and Paper completed a merger. The resulting company, Suzano, (NYSE: SUZ) is now the world's largest eucalyptus pulp company and Latin America's leading producer of printing and writing paper. Biocrude offtake will be shipped from a neighboring port to refinery and heating markets in the U.S. The RTP biomass conversion unit has been engineered by Honeywell UOP through a contract signed with Envergent Technologies. Basic engineering has been completed. Detailed engineering is underway. |
