HEATING FUELS
Ensyn's biocrude is a low carbon fuel for heating and cooling that can be combusted in conventional commercial and industrial grade boilers. Ensyn's biocrude has been in use as a renewable liquid fuel by Ensyn and its partners for over 30 years. Ensyn is now building a broader heating and cooling business by introducing its low carbon fuel in a diverse range of package and utility grade boilers, for use by our institutional and utility customers.
Ensyn markets its renewable heating fuel as RFO® in the US, and as Low Carbon Fuel Oil (LCFO) in Canada. In 2014 Ensyn Fuels signed a five year commercial contract (with extension rights) with Memorial Hospital, North Conway, New Hampshire. This contract has allowed Memorial to switch 100% of its heating needs to RFO. Deliveries under this contract have taken place since August 2014 and are ongoing. This contract has allowed Memorial to lower the GHG footprint from its heating operations by an estimated 85%. Ensyn’s RFO heating oil sales to US customers generate D7 cellulosic RINs under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s RFS program, enhancing project economics. In December 2023, Michelin North America (Canada) Inc. and Ensyn's Vyterra Renewables Inc. announced the completion of a successful Low Carbon Fuel Oil (LCFO) combustion trial at Michelin’s Waterville, Nova Scotia plant. Ensyn is executing its heating and cooling business with several leading industrial companies with expertise and capabilities in burner and boiler technology as well as fuels storage and distribution. |
