Ivanhoe Energy: world-wide RTP-HTL projects converting heavy petroleum to lighter, more valuable products

In 2005 Ivanhoe Energy acquired exclusive rights to apply the RTP technology to non-renewable resources, including oil and coal, at a US$100 million valuation.

Ivanhoe Energy has rebranded the petroleum-based RTP technology as HTL, or “Heavy-to-Light”

Ivanhoe Energy has two announced HTL-related heavy oil projects:

• Tamarack, in the Athabasca region of Alberta
• Pungarayacu, Ecuador

Ivanhoe Energy has also stated that they are pursuing additional HTL-related projects in South America, the Middle East and elsewhere.

Ivanhoe Energy has appointed AMEC, London, England, as their principal HTL engineering firm

Ivanhoe Energy has appointed AMEC, London, England, as their principal engineering contractor for the engineering and design of their HTL (RTP) heavy oil facilities. These facilities range up to approximately 30,000 barrels per day per single train. Ensyn retains the right to receive certain one-time royalty payments on each HTL facility Ivanhoe Energy commissions. Dr Robert Graham, Ensyn’s CEO, and Robert Pirraglia, Ensyn’s EVP Strategic Development, are members of Ivanhoe Energy’s Board of Directors.
