Ensyn’s proprietary Rapid Thermal Processing (RTP)™ technology was developed at the University of Western Ontario by the two founders of the company, Dr. Robert Graham and Barry Freel.
After incorporating in 1984 to commercialize RTP™, Ensyn expanded rapidly. Between 1989 and 2008, it designed, built and commissioned a total of seven commercial production plants in the United States and Canada.
In 2005, Ivanhoe Energy Inc. purchased the rights to the RTP™ technology as it applies to petroleum applications for an enterprise value of $100 million. Since that time, Ensyn has focused on enlarging its management team to accelerate commercial growth through joint ventures in the fields of bio-energy, bio-chemicals and renewable transportation fuel. |
