FIBRIA & ENSYN
Ensyn and Fibria Celulose S.A., the world’s largest producer of market pulp, have established an equally-owned joint venture for the production of cellulosic fuels in Brazil using Ensyn's RTP® technology.
Fibria is the global leader in the production of eucalyptus pulp. The company has an annual production capacity of 5.3 million tons, with mills located in Três Lagoas (Mato Grosso do Sul), Aracruz (Espírito Santo) and Jacareí (São Paulo). Fibria also owns an interest in Veracel, a mill in Eunápolis (Bahia), in a joint venture with Stora Enso. In addition, in an alliance with Cenibra, Fibria owns and operates Portocel, in Aracruz, the only Brazilian port dedicated to pulp shipments.
Fibria has a total forest base covering 969 thousand hectares,wth operations based entirely on renewable forest plantations. These include properties in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Bahia. Of this total area, 343 thousand hectares are native forests that have been set aside for environmental conservation.
Fibria is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and has a market capitalization exceeding US$8 billion.
The first project under this joint venture is being developed at Fibria’s 2.5 million ton/year pulp mill in Aracruz, in the State of Espirito Santo, just north of Rio de Janeiro. To learn more about this project, click here.
